My Air My Health

Value added services through Analytics

Did you ever wonder why you came back with a head ache after visit to a specific place? You thought it was the air, but, were not sure

"My Air TM " analytics engine will help you understand the possible causes

You will know you were in a dusty environment this evening 1800 to 1930 hours. .There may be other reasons as well. A quick look at the CO2 levels on the same day reveals that CO2 levels at the same time were anomalously high. You now know the very likely reason for your head ache.

Even before you look at the graphs, our analytics engine will have sent you a message indicating possible prolonged exposure to anomalously high levels of pollutants.

Next time you plan to visit the place
or you are in the vicinity of a place with similar pollution levels, our back end Analytics will help you avert another unpleasant episode by sending you an alert.

From Data to Insights

However, this is not apparent by simply looking at the raw data.

Visualizing the data in order to understand the patterns and the extract the insights is the job of analytics. Our ability to visualize data in different ways, makes it possible for us to explore the patterns and extract the insights.

Even before you look at the graphs, our analytics engine will have sent you a message indicating possible prolonged exposure to anomalously high levels of pollutants.

Particulate Matter (PM)

Particulate Matter, be it inert dust particles or allergenic pollens, is ubiquitous.

Large amounts of particulate matter is inhaled by all of us every day. While larger particulate matter are prevented from entering the lungs, small particles less than 10 µ (PM10) in size make it into the lungs. Pollens can trigger allergic reactions soon after inhalation. A portion of these inhaled particles lodge themselves in the lungs and impede normal breathing. Until now there was no way to measure the actual amount inhaled by a person. Our device enables the back end server to track the amount of particulate matter inhaled you. This becomes a very useful diagnostic device for a pulmonologist treating a patient with lung problems.

The insights gained by using our analytics can help you make simple lifestyle changes to a better health. This is possible by avoiding locales and times prone to high PM count. Figure 1 shows the typical PM profile at a given location during the day. (Note that this is not real data) We measure Particulate Matter upto 1 Micron size. PM1.0

Air Pollution

Figure 4 Elderly and Children have a greater impact from polluted air
Air, indoors or outdoors, contains many harmful pollutants.

Organic compounds, Carbon Oxides, Nitrogen Oxides, Sulphur Oxides etc., can be hazardous, even in minute quantities. For example, CO2 levels can become unacceptably high in enclosed areas.

Since we spend a lot of our time indoors, the impact of elevated levels of CO2 and other pollutants can be very high. Methods to measure the levels of CO2 in ambient air can only give general levels of pollutants in the vicinity. However, with our device we can track the actual amounts of CO2and other potentially harmful pollutants inhaled by you. (For this we assume normal build of a person and lung capacity).

Figure 5 Decision making capacity decreases with elevated levels of CO2

Studies have shown that decision making capacity of a person drops in an environment of elevated CO2. If you are aware that CO2 levels are high, you can make simple adjustments to the environment (such as open a window), to avert ill effects of elevated CO2 levels in closed environments.

While this is the short term impact of high CO2 levels, there have been few studies of the long term impact of inhaling high levels of CO2. Our data can provide valuable inputs to professionals to conduct such studies.

Critical Alerts

Human body is remarkably tolerant and tries to adjust to hostile environments and yet survive.

We believe that instead of testing body limits we should be able to detect hostile environments and alert the users (especially Asthma patients for whom situations can be life threatening). Often simple actions like moving away from the hostile environment is sufficient to save lives. The ability to know the environment before it is too late is critical in this situation.

Our device constantly monitors the environment around you. When the pollution levels are beyond acceptable levels it sends out a warning. This happens well before the body is subject to the exposure for longer times than necessary.

With the data in our servers, doctors can track the use of inhalers by asthma patients. This helps determine environmental factors that can induce an episode of asthma attack. If you suffer from asthma, our server can alert you about possible attack, once the triggers have been identified

Pollution Maps

We will use dedicated devices to collect data on pollution in critical locations of a city.

This enables us to create a real time pollution map of the city. This is very useful for a large number people who unknowingly, expose themselves to large amounts of pollutants. Our maps will show areas to avoid and the times of peak pollution. This will be helpful to communities at large.

Intelligence for you:

The Back end analytics engine will provide you with advance alerts, based on your historical usage pattern.

Our systems are evolving and constantly learning patterns in the data we collect. With this we can provide even more insights into pollution patterns, its impact and ways to minimize the impact.

While “My Air is My Health TM ”, “Our Air” impacts societies at large and we at PAQS provide valuable insights into “MyAir TM ” and our air.
